No Reb today. Didn’t want anyone to get more than their weekly allotment of Reb Brown. Instead, I’m off to see The Raven tonight, starring John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe. I haven’t actually paid any attention to the plot summaries or reviews. My understanding is that its about some crazy murderer in Baltimore (surprise!) killing people like Edgar Allen Poe stories. It’s up to a Baltimore detective (and Poe, apparently???) to save the day. Obviously this has the potential to be utterly absurd, but I’m worried it’ll end up just being dumb in a boring way. My secret hope is that it turns out to be The Wire, but with Edgar Allen Poe. Still, I am an unapologetic fan of all things Cusack, so it won’t be a total loss.
